BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY EXPANDS PROGRAM FOR KIDS WITH INCARCERATED PARENTS

Through the years, the Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) has been the go to sanctuary for extremely enlightening experiences. As a winner of the Knight Foundation’s funding challenge for libraries, BPL was able to expand its new TeleStory program. This program allows children with incarcerated parents to visit the library and have their parents read to them over a video system from jail. BPL understands the importance of family and how difficult it is maintaining a relationship with children when the parent is incarcerated.
