The Second Avenue subway line has FINALLY opened in Manhattan’s Upper East Side – after being “in progress” for over 100 years. Trains will officially begin riding on the subway line at 12 PM on Sunday, January 1, 2017.

Heck of a way to start the new year already, isn’t it?

The new subway line is an extension of the Q line, and even though it’s the biggest update to the MTA system in 50 years – the Second Avenue Subway has only completed its first phase of construction.  Eventually, after two additional phases, the subway line will end at 125th street (instead of its current end on 96th) and a new T line will run from 125th street all the way down to Houston.

“New Yorkers have waited nearly a century to see the promise of the Second Avenue Subway realized,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. “After unrelenting dedication from thousands of hardworking men and women, the wait is over.”

Irritated, (cialis prescription) learningworksca.org corroded bile acids are the culprit of the various pancreas and gallbladder diseases, and it is the frequent source of chronic pain after gallbladder removal.
So what does this mean for Brooklynites?

Since there are now four lines on the “yellow” subway map, the MTA has revised the line names to include N, Q, R, and W.  If you have ever planned to take the subway from Brooklyn (specifically Coney Island, Midwood, or Flatbush) straight to Queens – you can no longer do so. You’ll have to transfer subway lines in Manhattan.

That’s the only big change for now. We’re lucky that they didn’t change around any of the names unnecessarily, so unless you’re commuting to Queens or to the Upper East Side regularly you don’t have to worry. Phases 3 and 4 will provide a larger nuisance, as those phases directly affect midtown and downtown trains.

With the timeline of construction, however, we might not have to worry about it for another 100 years or so. So at least there’s that!
