Expect More NYPD Subway Patrol Officers And More MTA Delays

Due to the swift rise in crime happening below ground, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton announced at a news conference on Wednesday, that they will present a new plan to expand the presence of NYPD police officers on subway trains. The plan will see more officers on patrol at each train station stop across the city and each subway car, especially at night.

According to Bratton, the NYPD is more equipped than ever, provided new advanced below-ground radios that police have already begun using in the Bronx.

Though this seems great, the heightened security won’t come without some concern. The NY Post reports that the new plans will cause a few “delays, while cops look for potential problems.”

“They will be looking for ill passengers or those who might be creating problems,” Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said during a press conference.

Officials continued to stress that subway crimes are historically low and that more officers does not mean that there is more crime, even with the numerous reports of subway slashings and the scary report of a 22-year-old man shot while waiting for the train at Crown Heights’ Nostrand Avenue 3-train stop. People just happen to be more aware of the crime and are calling for more protection. What-Evs!

The new plan is expected to be rolled out in Brooklyn by the spring, according to reports.
