Saturday, June 21st, marked the first day of summer and Brooklyn was ready to play. To kick of the festivities Coney Island hosted their 32nd Annual Mermaid Parade. The weather was amazing as paraders clad in extensive costume, headed down Surf Avenue and across the Boardwalk to celebrate the official start of the summer.
Mayor Bill De Blasio, his wife Chirlane and children, Chiara and Dante started off the parade in full costume to get the city ready for an amazing day. Chiara and Dante were crowned King and Queen Neptune at the start of the parade.

Yesterday, Director Spike Lee, celebrated 25 years of his famous movie, “Do The Right Thing” in a way only he can. Old School Spike’s Joint presented a one day only pop up shop in Fort Green. The museum like shop brought you back memories of the Brooklyn-based movie. From memorabilia of the film to t-shirts and souvenirs available for purchase.
