UPDATE : Looks as if Brooklyn Monkey has re-opened after being closed for a couple days. Their reps reached out to us to confirm, they are now open after this short stint. They are even hosting an open mic night tomorrow from 7-11pm. Go celebrate will  them on 1 Front Street right above Grimaldi’s!

Good luck to Big Ang and we wish Brooklyn Monkey much success!

Talk about opening and closing a business in record timing. About a month after Mob Wives star, Big Ang, opens Brooklyn Monkey in Dumbo, it closes. On Friday, June 6th, it appears that the establishment sold its last drink as the staff closed up shop that night and never came back. Brooklyn Monkey just opened its doors to the public on May 5th, Cinco De Mayo.

Big Ang, real name Angela Raiola, claims that they are just having some small financial issues and they are not closing for good. Grimaldi’s, the famous Dumbo pizzeria that you must travel through to get to Brooklyn Monkey, says something completely different. According to NYDN Gina Peluso, Grimaldi’s manager stated, “I don’t know too much about it – all I know is it closed two weeks ago. Nobody from the bar said anything to us.”

Interesting!

Sounds like Brooklyn Monkey was just a pop-up lounge for the new season of Mob Wives. Remember Big Ang’s Miami Monkey in Miami didn’t last to long and neither did her reality show spin-off. So this would not come as a surprise.

Time will tell.
