Thanks to Pix 11 us introverts — who can’t stand the millions of people in Times Square or the other couple of thousands in Coney Island — get to ring in the New Year yet again with Ralph Cramden and The Honeymooners gang.

Since 1996, New Yorkers have made it a tradition to stay home and watch their favorite Brooklyn TV residents take us to the moon in comedy and romance. This year the tradition kicks off at 11pm on New Year’s Eve and will show all “classic 39” episodes, ending 5pm on New Year’s Day.

The marathon show continuation comes on the heels of CBS big announcement of the station’s plan to reboot the classic 1 season TV series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS is working on a modern day reboot of The Honeymooners. Similar to the original, the new show will follow two couples — best friends and neighbors — who deal with a new dynamic after one of the couple remarries after divorcing four years earlier.

The comedy is being developed by Bob Kushell, the same guy who tried (and failed) to remake The Muppets for ABC.

Sometimes you really have to go with the saying, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I mean, maybe the creators of The Honeymooners Broadway production figured that out and that’s the reason we still don’t have it.

The original Honeymooners starred Jackie Gleason (as Ralph Kramden), Audrey Meadows (Alice), Art Carney (Ed) and Joyce Randolph (Trixie) and even after only one season, was one of the first U.S. TV series to portray working-class married couples on a “run-down set”. This one so happened to be in Brooklyn.
