Brooklyn's St. Patrick's Day Parade Won't Happen Until Sunday

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and cheers to all that is green and merry!

Though today is the day to celebrate Irish pride (and drink lots of cheep beer), the Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day parade won’t happen until Sunday, March 20.

The traditional parade formed in 1975 by the Brooklyn Irish American Parade Committee, aims to honor the patron of Ireland, St. Patrick, to remember the Battle of Brooklyn and to pay tribute to the Irish for their many significant and historic contributions to our Borough, City, State and Nation.

The 41st parade will kick-off at 9am with a pre-parade mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church at 245 Prospect Park West. At 12 noon, grand marshal Mary Hogan, National President of Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians will kick of the street parade that will go from 15th Street & Prospect Park West up Garfield Place will live marching bands, and a “Re-Dedication Ceremony” to the Heroes & Victims of 9/11.
