Some of the world’s best college teams are headed to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to play in the NCAA tournament.

The Notre Dame men’s basketball team, hailing all the way from Ireland are on a flight to Brooklyn to play in Friday’s first round match of the NCAA tournaments. The team, 21-11 and seated in sixth place of the Irish set will play Michigan Wolverines (23-12) who beat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 67-62, last night.

Many of the players consider this as a homecoming of some sorts as a few are from some part of the East Coast.

“I love it. East Coast, my family will be able to get out there easy,” Irish Center Zach Auguste, who is from Marlborough, Mass., told WNDU. “It’s going to be exciting to play in the Barclay Arena. I haven’t been there in a while so it’s going to be fun in a great atmosphere.”

“Yeah I can’t wait, I have a lot of friends and family there, a lot of support,” said Irish Guard Matt Ryan, who is from Cortlandt Manor, NY., to the publication. “I’m just thrilled to be able to go home, my family only has to drive an hour to come see me play so it’s going to be great.”

Exciting times here in Brooklyn for these boys.
