Bed-Stuy Emcee Wins HOT 97's Who's Next $1 Million Recording Contract

Get familiar with the name: Wxlfman. The Bed-Stuy emcee has been named the winner of FilmOn TV Networks and Emmis Communications’ HOT 97 2016’s Who’s Next emerging artist showcase. The rising star was awarded a $50,000 cash prize and a recording contract with FilmOn Music and MondoTunes worth $1 million, at Summer Jam this past Sunday, June 5th at Met Life Stadium.

Wxlfman calls what he does Soul Shine Music, blending his life experience, eclectic knowledge and positivity. His FilmOn Music recording contract will include production, video, merchandise and publicity; distribution with MondoTunes, the worlds largest digital music distributor; and tour production in conjunction with FOTV’s Hologram USA.

“Wxlfman slayed, night after night,” said FilmOn TV Networks CEO Alki David in a recent press release. “He’s a child of hip-hop’s mid-90’s, adolescent years and is distilling that into something creative, mature, and wonderfully positive. We’re proud to propel this next stage of his career with the recording contract, tours and video. Wxlfman WILL become one of the scene’s biggest stars.”



Thousands of musicians reportedly applied but Wxlfman stood out. The Brooklynite then faced off against eight other rising talents on stage in competitions streamed live on FilmOn.com, where over 50,000 fans cast votes in order to narrow the field to three. Judges Diggy Simmons, DJ ENUFF, and TT Torrez made the final selection at Brooklyn’s Club Love and announced Wxlfman the winner.

HOT 97’s Who’s Next emerging artist showcase, has previously launched the careers of Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Travi$ Scott, and many others.
