Would you eat a protein bar made from crickets even if the rapper Nas told you, you should? Think about it.

Nas, no stranger in helping small businesses rise to the top, has recently invested some of his millions into Exo — a Brooklyn-based start-up company that makes protein bars out of crickets, according to Business Insider. The publication reports that Exo “just closed a $4 million round of Series A funding led by Accel Foods — including Nas — bringing its total funding to $5.6 million.”

Founded by two college buddies, Greg Sewitz and Gabi Lewis, claimed that after reading a United Nations report while studying at Brown University, found that “cricket flour” could help with the fight against world hunger and is essentially better for the environment.

Jetblue airlines has also shown its support of the protein bars. Back in October of 2014, the airline company announced that they’ll be partnering with AccelFoods to bring JFK and LAX patrons a new crop of in-flight snacks, including the bug bars.

“We have always taken great pride in JetBlue’s commitment to innovation for our customers and our growing relationship with AccelFoods represents just that,” Jamie Perry, JetBlue’s director of Product Development, tells USA Today. “The opportunity to showcase the AccelFoods portfolio companies in our flagship T5 terminal and onboard is exactly the type of event that keeps our consumers excited by what can sometimes be a challenging travel experience. We are excited that our relationship with AccelFoods continues to grow big.”
