Yesterday, the Brooklyn Nets debuted the new Hospital for Special Surgery Training Center in Industry City. The HSS state of the art facility maybe centrally located in Brooklyn but has the most breathtaking view of Manhattan.

The event started with a lunch many did not anticipate; fresh and completely healthy. All the foods and blended drinks were based off of the core beliefs of the Hospital for Special surgery; Performance, recovery, and prevention. Staff from Barclays Center’s Levy restaurants will be on hand 24/7 to prepare foods and drinks for the Nets solely on those beliefs.

Both Brooklynites including the Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio and the Deputy Commissioner of the NBA, Mark Tatum both took out time to be apart of the special event. They spoke about the history of Brooklyn, what the Nets mean to the borough and even talked about the Brooklyn-Queens commuter that will soon come to the area. Also on hand to speak were Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, Nets CEO Brett Yormark, ONEXIM President Irina Pavlova, HSS President, Louis A. Shapiro and Nets starting Center Brook Lopez. They talked about the long journey to get here and how the dream is finally realized.

“With this new training center in Sunset Park, the Brooklyn Nets are now truly making Brooklyn their home,” said the Mayor, who referenced the Nets having their old facility in New Jersey. “This facility will bring more than just Nets’ practices to Brooklyn – 40 new full-time jobs, youth basketball clinics, internships for young people and more will ensure this is a great addition for our communities.”

The facility has everything you can think of including an indoor lounge area, arcade machine that requires no quarters, weight rooms, a cryogenic chamber, private elevators for the players, movie room, press/media areas, new locker room and an outdoor lounge on the roof.

The Nets practiced on the court for the first time at 6pm and were really in awe when it was over. The Nets know that the training center is going to be a game changer. It already  is according to the mayor, as he call it “the flagship of Industry City”.

The Nets can now finally say “Hello Brooklyn!”
