Yesterday, Michigan native and the America’s oldest person, Jeralean Talley, died at the age of 116. Talley’s daughter, who confirmed her death, stated her mother was recently hospitalized and treated for fluid in her lungs, but was able to return home and pass peacefully.

Talley, who turned 116 on May 23, was the oldest living person according available records from The Gerontology Research Group. Since her passing, Susannah Jones of East New York, by way of Alabama, is the oldest living person at 115. The retired child-care provider, who will turn 116 on July 12th, has gone on record crediting her faith in God for her long life. “I don’t have a secret,” Jones told TIME magazine. “Believe in the Lord.”
