Jessica Williams Set To Play A Sci-fi Writer in Brooklyn For New Showtime Series

Williams is bringing the borough to a new network.

Jessica Williams, star of Netflix’s The Incredible Jessica James, and one-half of popular podcast, 2 Dope Queens, is set to write, produce and star in a new comedy series on Showtime.

The new comedy project, set to be directed by Jim Strouse — the director also of The Incredible Jessica James — “tells the story of an African American aspiring science fiction writer (Williams) who comes of age in Brooklyn,” according to Deadline.

Reports also say that Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures (Katheryn Bigelow’s Detroit, Barry Jenkins’ upcoming If Beale Street Could Talk) is also in negotiations to jump on board as a producer.

The project has yet to be given a title and no premiere date has been announced.
