During most of my interviews that will be published on OurBKSocial, I usually end them with the interviewee having to complete “Dear Brooklyn…….Love (their name)” . Someone asked me to complete it and I was completely shocked that I have not done this for myself. I love to see what Brooklyn has done for individuals and how this wonderful borough has made the people born here, raised here or just visiting here change and inspire them. I have never really thought about it myself, so I have decided to take on the challenge and not keep it to myself. I will act like no one is reading this but post it for all of you to read. I will be raw, real and truthful! Here Goes…

Dear Brooklyn,

You are so beautiful! A work of art, if I do say so myself. I’ve seen you embrace change. I grew up with you and to see you now brings butterflies of what is yet to come! I’ve seen with my own eyes, some of the tragedies that most of the world has seen through their television screens. I’ve seen people die in front of my face but I have also seen you make so many more people live! The greats that you have birthed are not even prepared for the legacies that are getting ready to make their appearance! The music, the style, the diversity all in the heart of you. You are not the world, but the world lies in you and that is what makes everything here so awesome. The struggle then the triumphs, the losses then the victories. The dream of the standard of what it is to be from Brooklyn and grow up here is remarkable. It’s like, you are destined for greatness when you tell an out of towner that you are from Brooklyn. No longer are they scared to hear that you are from here, but they want to know more. They want to know what it’s like, and if you know Jay Z…Ha!…They love the stories. Thank You for all you have done for me. Teaching me that nothing stays the same. To embrace change. To live in the present but prepare for the future. To expect greatness. To be success not just to envision it. To love passionately. To help. To give. To laugh. To acknowledge. To be ready for anything! A borough so big yet it seems so small when everyone here is just family. I’m ready to be in your continued growth. I’m ready to travel to other cities but know that you will always be the greatest. To know you, is to truly love you. Brooklyn, what’s next?
