The Nets knew how important tonight’s game was and just didn’t seem to have any kind of rhythm. They continuously turned the ball over, didn’t get back on the defensive glass, and allowed the Celtics, who were tied for 8th place, to do whatever they wanted. Brook Lopez was the only saving grace for the Nets with 31. The Nets were horrible from behind the arc, 1-for-9 the Celtics take a game and a half above the Nets and now own the tie breaker. Lets take at how the Nets lost tonight.

Celtics Crush Nets At Home 110-91, Nets Fall To 29-40

Nets open up their must win game with a Joe Johnson jumper to start the Nets off with a lead. Nets would go on a 7-0 run early but the Celtics would do their damage from beyond the arc and cur the lead to 1, 13-12. Nets and Celtics would battle back and forth, each not wanting to give an inch but the Nets would gain the advantage forcing a Celtics time out, 24-18 Nets. Nets would complete the quarter with only 1 foul committed on the Celtics and lead 28-23.

2nd quarter and the Nets started off with a turnover which led to a Celtics dunk on the other end. Bojan Bogdanovic was denied a bucket and was ruled a jump ball which led to a Celtics bucket and first lead of the game, 30-28. Time out Nets. The Celtics 9-0 run would end and the Nets would tie the game at 38. The Celtics would take a 5 point lead and seemed to be in a better rhythm than the Nets at home. Boston would shoot 61% from the field while the Nets would shoot under 35% during the quarter. Celtics would lead 54-49 at halftime and outscore the Nets 31-21 in the quarter. Nets need to adjust if they plan on getting the win.

Coming out of the half the Celtics take a 7 point lead by getting the first bucket. Evan Turner of the Celtics was doing whatever he wanted on the offensive boards. Nets would try and break the cycle but would find themselves in their dangerous “10-point” whole that they are accustomed to not coming out of. Celtics up 69-57. Nets have gone cold and shooting under 33% in the 3rd quarter doesn’t help. Deron Williams would try and boost the Nets to a better rhythm cutting the Celtics 14 point lead to just 6, 75-69. Nets would come back via free throws down the final stretch of the quarter. Celtics would take a 5 point swing in their favor to get the lead back up to 9, 83-74, to end the 3rd quarter.

The 4th and final quarter starts off with a Celtics fast break dunk. The Celtics simply look like they want to be in the playoffs compared to the way the Nets are playing. The Celtics ballooned the lead to 16, 96-80 and the Nets look dead in the water. Nets manage to cut the lead to 11 but have more work to do. A turnover late cost the Nets their final burst to do something about the game. The Celtics went on a barrage and beat the Nets 110-91. Every time we expect the Nets to turn the corner, the Nets back peddle. Tough loss with major implications at the end of the season. The Nets go up against the Hornets Wednesday Night in Charlotte.
