Dakota Fanning, star of TNT’s new hit series “The Alienist”, made her directorial debut with “Hello Apartment,” the latest short-film part of Miu Miu Women’s Tales short-film series by women who celebrate femininity in the 21st century.

Set in the popular Gary’s Loft in Williamsburg, “Hello Apartment” follows the story of a young woman, Ava, who moves into a new home, makes lasting memories and comes back to the apartment years later after she has long moved out to reminisce. Writter Liz Hannah (co-writer of Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award nominated “The Post”) describes the short’s idea as, “reliving your past while going through what’s happening in your life now, in one space.”

Eve Hewson (“The Knick”) plays Ava, the protagonist, for whom the bright Brooklyn apartment become a historic sacred space.

The story “was inspired by my first home, where I still live. It is a shrine to experiences,” Fanning said in a statement. “I’ve a hard time letting go. What happens to all those memories?”

Previous titles in the Women’s Tales series include “Carmen” by Chloe Sevigny, “The Door” by Ava DuVernay, “That One Day” by Crystal Moselle, and others. The shorts in the series are all loosely inspired by Miu Miu clothes and accessories, with no need to show the products in the series, according to Variety.
