What started off as a sleeper ended in such heartbreaking fashion. It was a certified battle on the Barclays Center court against the #1 and #2 seeded teams in the Atlantic Division. Brooklyn would have to dig deep, as they did, but it just wasn’t enough for the win. Let’s get to the recap.

Raptors Edge Nets In Overtime, Brooklyn Falls 18-29

In the 1st half the Nets controlled the tip to start the game but Toronto would score first with a three pointer as the clock winded down. Toronto start with on a 12-0 lead until Jarrett Jack hit a three. Brooklyn would wake up and cut the lead to 1, 23-24, making the 1st quarter competitive. Brooklyn would take the lead on a pair of Jarrett Jack free throws, 32-31. Cory Jefferson would have a crowd raising alley-oop on a 2 on 3 Raptor advantage. Raptors would take a 9 point advantage before the Nets to a time out, 47-38. Toronto would get hot from behind the arc and bring the lead back to 13, 46-59.

Raptors Edge Nets In Overtime, Brooklyn Falls 18-29

In the 2nd half the Raptors continue to pound away at the Nets to the point where the lead flirted with a 20 point gap. The Raptors would simply make shots and some trick shots at the disbelief of the Nets. The Nets would then go on a 15-2 run and cut the lead to 2, 93-91. Brooklyn tied the game on an Alan Anderson jumper, 93-93. Plumlee, who missed his first 3 free throws, would hit his next 2 giving Brooklyn the lead.  Amir Johnson would foul Jarrett Jack falling out of bounds and Jack would hit a pair. Anderson would hit a 3 pointer but Derozan would hit a jumper while being fouled. Derozan ties the game at 100 on a jumper with under five minutes left. Brooklyn would only be up by one but Derozan again hits a basket while being fouled. Jack and Lopez would share the offense down the stretch. Toronto takes the one point lead until Brooklyn takes its own 1 point lead on a Joe Johnson jumper 112-111. Lopez gets fouled but splits the pair at the line. Amir Johnson gets a layup and ties the game at 113. Lopez had a chance to hit the end the game but misses. On to Overtime!

Start of OT and the Raptors would hit a 3 to open up the extra quarter. The Nets and Raptors would go back and forth until the Raptors went up by 3, 120-117. Both Kyle Lowry and Amir Johnson would be playing with 5 fouls. Lopez would sink a bucket and would be fouled. Game tied at 120 but Raptors and Nets would play tug of war with the score board, dead even at 122. Amir Johnson sneaks in a shot to give Toronto the lead, traveled, but the refs didn’t see it. Raptors go up by 2 and get another basket to go. Time runs out and the Raptors win 127-122. A heartbreaking loss for Brooklyn.
