Anyone that’s been paying attention to the Brooklyn Nets knows that Joe Johnson, Deron Williams and Brook Lopez are on the trading block and would’ve been traded already had their contracts not been so ridiculously high. With that said, there is a team in the NBA that is eyeing Brooklyn Nets center, Brook Lopez, for a possible trade.

Brook Lopez Off To…Miami?

Yes, Brook Lopez could be in a Miami Heat jersey before the February 19th trade deadline. The big man is owed $15.7 million this year and $16.7 next year if he enacts his player option. Lopez has been more off than on with the Nets in New Jersey and in Brooklyn. He’s been injured every year and isn’t the nimble center that Nets head Coach Lionel Hollins is used to or would like to have. With Mason Plumlee capable of playing center and becoming a rising star on the team and in the league, Brook Lopez may need to go to a team that needs him more in return for some decent talent. Nets fans don’t worry; Brooklyn will not be getting rid of a draft pick to make the deal happen…thank God. Miami needs a talented big man, like a Brook Lopez, in and out of the paint and may be looking to part with Loul Deng and Josh McRoberts to make it happen.

Brooklyn does have an extra roster spot open now without trading Lopez. Deng and McRoberts make around $15.7 million combined so it makes the deal very attractive for both sides. The problem is that Brooklyn really needs another point guard and not another power forward in Deng nor an injured one in McRoberts. If Brooklyn pulls the trigger on this it might start the preverbal avalanche of trades that need to happen to improve the team. 7 straight loses, an evaporated identity, lost to the 76ers, injured point guard, and plunging jersey sales. These are the Brooklyn Nets right now and they need help any and everywhere they can get it.

Someone in that front office needs to call Pat Riley and ask him how soon does he need Brook Lopez?
