Last Saturday, November 7, 2015, attendees sampled the bouquets and sipped crisp, dry, and sweet wines and high quality liquors. “Toast of Brooklyn” has been exciting palettes since 2007.
“We bring sophisticated events to our community to show what we have to offer in our neighborhood backyard, said Edmon Braithwaite, the event’s cofounder and owner of Nostrand Wines & Liquors located at 549 Nostrand Avenue. Braithwaite is currently organizing next year’s festival. He wants to engage more wine and liquor sponsors, food and art participating vendors from the diaspora and of course, more attendees.

Tickets for the festival may seem pricey at $50 each. However, “Toast of Brooklyn” is the primary fund-raiser for the Bed-Stuy Gateway Business Improvement District,” said executive director Michael Lambert. Also, a portion of the proceeds go to support Seeds in the Middle, a non-profit empowering Brooklyn’s neediest children.
