We’re finally catching up to the decade of The Jetsons, from holograms to robotic contraptions and soon hi-tech MTA buses!

Brooklynites can’t live without the internet and may never have to after Governor Cuomo announced over 2,000 state-of-the-art buses, equipped with free Wi-Fi and USB charging ports, are set to roll out over the next five years. The buses will also host digital information screens and making it easier to figure out transfers, upcoming stops and the weather (or you could just look out the window).

“These are not gonna be your father’s buses,” Cuomo told reporters back in March. “It has a European flair to it. I think it has almost a Ferrari-like look. Aerodynamic. Well done.”

The new buses will cost the city a whopping $1.3 billion (why do I feel a fare hike coming soon) and will replace 40% of the buses running now. 75 of the new buses will hit Queens by the end of this year, with buses in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan to follow in 2018. They’ll be riding around all five boroughs by 2020.

Cue Jetsons theme song!
