Whiskey Wars Tour and Tasting: Date Night Edition

BLDG 92 and Kings County Distillery bring you a special “date night” addition to the popular “Whiskey Wars Tour and Tasting.” Designed specifically whiskey enthusiasts and their favorite plus ones, participants will be introduced to local lore around whiskey and have a fully-guided tasting experience that includes a taste of 4 – 6 whiskeys that are crafted onsite. To cap off the experience, each guest will be provided with a drink ticket to enjoy a cocktail at the historic Gatehouse tasting room.

Raised in the System is an insightful look at juvenile mass incarceration in the United States, hosted by actor and activist Michael K. Williams, who played Omar on “The Wire.” Williams grew up in the Vanderveer projects, in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and has been visiting incarcerated loved ones since age seventeen. The screening will be followed by a discussion with actor Michael K. Williams, NYPD Assistant Chief Jeffrey Maddrey, community coordinator and mentor Dominic Dupont, juvenile justice activist Dana Rachlin, founder of NYC Together.

Enjoy an evening of poems and stories about eclipses, relativity, spacetime, and Einstein’s legacy, featuring readings by musicians David Byrne, Regina Spektor, Amanda Palmer, Emily Wells, and Josh Groban, astrophysicists Janna Levin and Natalie Batalha, poets Elizabeth Alexander, Diane Ackerman, and Marilyn Nelson, actor Natascha McElhone, comedian Chuck Nice, choreographer Bill T. Jones, and “On Being” host Krista Tippett, with some thrilling surprises in wait. After the show, the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York will be hosting telescopic stargazing in the spring-kissed garden outside.
