Earlier today, Spike Lee unveiled a memorial for the late Eric Garner who was murdered last month by an plain clothes New York police officer. The tribute is hanging outside of Lee’s 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks headquarters on 75 South Elliot Place in Fort Greene.
The photograph, by Adrian Franks, reads the last cry of Garner, “I Can’t Breathe” as the cop held him in an illegal chokehold. The NYPD prohibits chokeholds during arrest.
Just recently Lee released a video displaying heart wrenching similarities in the death of Eric Garner to his movie “Do The Right Thing.”
