In Honor Of The New Season 4 Trailer, Here’s Where The Cast Of OITNB Would Live In Brooklyn

Orange Is The New Black will make its way back to our hearts with its release date on June 17th. The Netflix phenomenon has undeniably taken the world by storm and continues to dominate social media and our living room TVs.
OITNB continues to delve deep into each of the lives of the ladies of Litchfield Penitentiary. The stories make the women seem a lot more human and personable rather than scrape the surface of a show about a bunch of women in prison.
Focusing on some of the characters’ lives and personalities, I couldn’t help but think what neighborhood in Brooklyn each of the ladies would reside in according to their personality and background story.
Taystee would hail from Bed Stuy. I’m not at all discrediting her for being intelligent, well-read and having a wide knowledge base about law. Her tough exterior would have been molded by her neighborhood.
Lorna Morell, the character with the richest “New Yawk” accent on the show, would be from Bensonhurst. She would also reside here as it is well-known as a Little Italy with its large Italian American population.
Suzanne Warren, a.k.a. Crazy Eyes would be from Williamsburg, known for the hipsters and its artsy flair. Crazy Eyes, the character with the bantu knots would reside there and fit right in as she has a thing or two for writing short stories and reciting poetry.
Poussey is named after the town of Poussay in North-eastern France, where her father was stationed when she was born. Being an army brat, I can only imagine her father choosing a home for her family somewhere in the Canarsie area.

Piper would live in her Prospect Heights brownstone with Larry. I could imagine them frequenting their neighborhood restaurants, bars and coffee shops.
Alex, Piper’s on-again, off-again prison girlfriend, would live in Red Hook, the neighborhood many people recognize for its waterfront and Ikea.
Galina Reznikov also known as Red, known for her quotes such as “The second you’re perceived as weak, you already are.” is from Brighton Beach, where she helped her husband run a restaurant. The scenes showing the restaurant were actually filmed in Astoria at Rosario’s Deli, a deli behind an Italian market.
Dayanara Diaz, a curvy and fierce Latina who is in prison with her mother and siblings, would be from Bushwick. There is where she would’ve lived with her family as the neighborhood has a large population of Latinos.
