Rookie Rondae Hollis-Jefferson may be having the best year of his life. The newest Brooklyn Nets star and his older brother, Rahlir, have put their own personal wants to the side and came together to give the one woman who gave them everything, a place of her own to call home.
In a sure tear-jerker video, shot by Mr. Business Productions and posted to YouTube, Rondae states, “Growing up we always talked about that day, that special day when we can get our mom, our grandmother a new place to live – somewhere we can call home, somewhere that’s comfortable for us to be. I think it’s every kid’s dream to one day be able to get their mom out of their situation that they’re in. And it’s very touching for us to be able to do this.”
Back in September Rondae had expressed his frustrations with trying to find an affordable home in New York City to the Wall Street Journal. Having to smartly settle for a shared New Jersey home, he got to save a bit of his $1.33 million dollar salary for a real home for his mother, Rylanda.
Rylanda, who previously had been vocal about having to work two jobs to provide for her sons when they were younger, was completely taken aback by the birthday surprise. “When they were little, I wanted to make sure I could provide for them so they wouldn’t be in the streets selling drugs,” Rylanda told the Arizona Daily Star in 2013.

“This is your house,” Rondae told his mother.
“No wonder everyone kept saying this is going to be the best birthday,” Rylanda later says.
