In the wake of Deron Williams’s latest injury, the Brooklyn Nets have recalled Markel Brown and Cory Jefferson from the Maine Red Claws, an NBA D-League (NBADL) team. Both Brown and Jefferson were sent to the NBADL at the start of the New Year. At the time, Brooklyn was on a winning streak and there were no injuries to report of. Since then the Nets have gone cold and are looking to find offense and defense in every direction they can.

Nets Ship Cory Jefferson & Markel Brown To NBA D-League

Cory Jefferson had the chance to start for the Nets against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers. He went 5 for 5 and showed us all that the last pick in the draft has some real potential. Markel Brown has been injury prone and hasn’t had a real chance to show what he can do for the Nets.

The Nets announced that Brown appeared in one game while on assignment, scoring seven points in eight minutes before exiting the game with a bruised right knee on Jan. 2 at Westchester. Jefferson appeared in two games off the bench, averaging 10.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in 24.5 minutes per game. He recorded 10 points, a team-high 11 rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes on Jan. 2 at Westchester and 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocks on Jan. 3 versus Delaware.

Brooklyn needs help at the point guard position so they will likely test Brown out before tonight’s game against the 76ers. Jefferson will likely see playing time seeing how well he did against the 76ers during their last contest.
