Tonight’s NBA matchup took center court inside Barclays Center where the Brooklyn Nets (16-19) hosted the Philadelphia 76ers (5-28). Tonight’s game was a must win for the Nets who came in on a 3-game losing streak. With Deron Williams out and Brooklyn calling back their reserves from the NBA D-league, it was time to see what Brooklyn would produce. Let’s get to the action.

76ers Rally Late To Beat The Nets 90-88, Nets Fall To 16-20

1st quarter action starts off with an emphatic dunk by Brook Lopez. The Nets would trail the 76ers early but would come back and take a 4-point lead midway into the quarter, 16-12. The Nets would shoot 60% during the quarter and Plumlee would get much needed practice at the free throw line. The Nets will end the quarter stuffing the stat sheet with assists, blocks, and points. The Nets outscore the 76ers 32-23 in the 1st.

2nd quarter action underway and the 76ers would cut the lead early to 5, 36-31. This quarter was the quarter where the Nets broke down offensively. The 76ers would manage to cut the lead to 2, 40-38 following 4 fast break points. But both teams would struggle to get easy buckets, including missed dunks. The 76ers continued to pound away at the lead until they were down by just 1 at halftime. The Nets would shoot 31.6% in the quarter while the 76ers outscored the Nets 22-14 in the same period. Nets lead 46-45 at the half.

After the break the 76ers would tie the game at 46 on a made free throw. Brooklyn would bounce back and build a 6 point cushion following a Jack-Plumlee Alley-Oop. The Nets lead would balloon to 11 then lose air at only a 5 point lead, 58-53. Mason Plumlee would reach another double-double in the quarter with 15 points and career high, 15 rebounds. The 76ers would go on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 6, 68-62. The Nets however, contain the run and end the quarter up 71-64. Nets outscore the 76ers 25-19 in the 3rd.

Start of the 4th and the 76ers and Nets battle back and forth to get a basket until Mirza Teletovic hits a 3-pointer. Jarrett Jack earned his double double in this quarter while the Nets went up by 6, 86-80. 76ers Cuttington would hit a 3 pointer late and cut the lead to just 1, 86-85. 76ers would take their 1st lead since the first on a basket and a foul, 88-86. Under 30 seconds left, Brook Lopez hits a floater to tie the game back at 88. 76ers Noel then gets a dunk and got up 2 with 03.2 seconds left. Lopez tries for a 3 pointer but misses. 76ers beat the Nets 90-88.

Nets face off against the surging Detroit Pistons tomorrow night in Detroit.
