After a three year hiatus, Janet Jackson is back with new music. But let’s be honest, the 52-year-old “Queen of Pop” never really left.

Jackson brings on Puerto Rican singer/rapper Daddy Yankee (“Despacito”) to collaborate on her latest single “Made For Now”. The Afro-beat-inspired tune unites the duo’s iconic global sounds.

During the singer’s recent trip to New York to headline Panorama, one of New York’s biggest music festivals, Jackson took a pit-stop in Williamsburg to shoot the “Made For Now” visuals. The video features a neighborhood dance party celebration with open fire hydrants, roller skating, double-dutch jumping and  international dancers from Ghana, Nigeria, Grenada, Trinidad, and the U.S. piecing it all together.

Interesting Jackson would choose gentrified Williamsburg to remind people of what old Brooklyn once was — and what some neighborhoods are still trying to hold on to. Of course I’m not mad at it. I just wish the song was released at the top of the summer so we could enjoy it blasting during outdoor parties just a little longer.

The song is produced by Harmony Samuels, who’s worked with some of music’s biggest names, including Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, and Maroon 5.

Jackson is slated to headline the Global Citizen Festival on September 29 in New York City’s Central Park. Listen to the song and watch the video above.
