No doubt about it, this game was a scorching hot one inside Barclays Center. The Nets couldn’t lose and the Toronto Raptors couldn’t either but one team had to at the very end and it would be the Raptors. The Nets win 114-10 and win their 6th straight. 31 points for D-Will, 30 for Lopez, and 29 for Thaddeus Young.
Brooklyn would control the tip and look for Lopez to strike the scoreboard first. Terrence Ross would commit two fouls on the Nets early that would send him to the bench on a tie game, 8-8. Both teams would go back and forth but Thaddeus Young crashed the offensive boards twice and was rewarded with 2 baskets and an “and 1” before a Raptors time out, 17-13, Nets. Nets would go on a 8-0 run to go up 25-17 causing another Raptors time out. Nets would gain and maintain a 10 point lead over the division leading Raptors as the quarter camera to a close but Patrick Patterson of the Raptors would drain a 3 at the last second of the 1st quarter. Nets up 34-27.
Raptors opened up the quarter with a jumper to cut the Nets lead to 5, 34-29. Ross would ,,pick up another quick foul early, his 3rd, leaving the game again. Toronto would tie the game up with a surge of baskets, 40-40, at he midway point of the quarter. Brooklyn would hit a free throw and get a fast break basket to go up three causing yet another Raptors time out., 43-40. Deron Williams would foul Patterson beyond the arc, causing three free points for the Raptors. Raptors would tie the game up and would take the lead on a free throw, 48-47 Raptors. Joe Johnson would elbow Demar Derozan causing an flagrant foul, 2 shots for the Raptors and the ball back. A bad swing for the Nets as the Raptors went on a 9-0 run, 52-47. Nets would be outscored 27-15 in the second quarter and go into the half down by 5, 54-49.
Out of the time out, Derozan hit a jumper to add the Raptor lead, 56-49. Amir Johnson of the Raptors would limp noticeably after a good defensive stop and just couldn’t put any pressure on his foot and headed to the locker room. Bad news for the Raptors. Deron Williams got a no call on a shot attempt and got upset. Deron would score the next 10 points after that, 68-62 Raptors. Deron Williams would have some blood on his hands and Thaddeus Young would do some limping but stay in the game and head to the free throw line for two. Deron Williams hit yet another 3 pointer and found Young for an easy dunk, Nets down 2, 73-71. Nets and Raptors would go back and forth but the Canadians would hold a 2 point lead at the close of the third, 79-77.
Deron Williams would hot a floater to tie the game up at 7 to open the half. Brook Lopez would hit two athletic shots and hit the extra and 1 on both to tie the game up at 87. Back and forth action and Derozan would hit 3 free throws, 1 via an Alan Anderson technical. Young would drive to the basket and get a lay up followed by a Raptor 24 second shot clock violation. Nets up by one, 95-94. Alan Anderson would go down on his foot, going to the bench. Toronto would hit 2 consecutive 3 pointers and go up by 1, 100-99. Deron Williams would hit a free throw and tie things up at 101. Brook Lopez would hit a jumper and drain it, 104-102. The scoreboard went back and forth deciding who was leading the game until Thaddeus Young got a put back and Deron Williams hit a 3 pointer with 46.2 remaining. Young had another desperation put back and put the Nets up by 2. Joe Johnson was fouled but it was a clear path foul so he hit 2 free throws and get the ball back. Nets would hit their free throws, icing the game and winning a huge one in Barclays, 114-109. Nets finally get their revenge.
The Nets will play another playoff team tomorrow—the Atlanta Hawks in the ATL.
