Oh the joy to know Macy’s Downtown Brooklyn won’t look the same. And it’s for the better! The long neglected chain location has been suffering for years. Now that Fulton Mall has added new stores like H&M, Gap, Aeropostale, and many more, including Neiman Marcus Last Call (coming soon), Macy’s has more competition.

According to the Brooklyn Paper, former Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership “held an intervention,” pointing out to Macy’s leadership that the Brooklyn store needed some serious help. Why did Macy’s need someone to tell them that this store was cluttered and filthy, I don’t know. But I sure am glad that they are moving in the right direction! This location has been long overdue for a major clean-up!

The outside including Macy’s garage has recently been done over with community catchphrases like “I Was Nurtured Here” and “Euphoria”.

Terry Lundgren, Macy’s department chairman and CEO a gave few other details about what the future holds for this location, others said to expect a younger feel to the store. “This won’t just be a renovation. It’s more of an urban concept appeal, a lot younger, more like Bloomingdale’s SoHo.”
