Its been 24 days since the Brooklyn Nets played a game at home. They ended their “circus road trip” with a win and came home to face the NBA’s best team, the Golden State Warriors. The Brooklyn Nets post Garnett are completely different and are playing on an NBA elite level. Could the Nets win and prove that they are for real?

1st quarter action Andrew Bogut of the Warriors was a the offensive juggernaut for the team, especially in the paint getting dunks and east tip-ins. However, this Brooklyn Nets team is different from the last time they played at home and it showed as the Nets went on a 10-0 run, 26-16. Brook Lopez would be the offensive anchor for the Nets and got into double figures with 12 points in under 5 minutes. The rest of the team shot an incredible 73% from the field giving them a 10 point cushion to enter the 2nd quarter, 33-23 Nets.

Warriors open up the quarter with a 3-pointer and a quick jumper to cut the Net lead to five. Bojan Bogdanovic would get a steal in the open court for the easy dunk. The pace was back and forth with easy fast break misses on both sides. Nets would hold on to the lead getting heavy contributions from their bench while shooting 62% in the quarter. Nets would be 49-45 until Bogut continued to harass the Nets in the paint. Bogut soon pushed Plumlee once then aggressively again and was assessed a flagrant foul. Deron Williams would hit a 3 to put the Nets up by 6, 55-49. Nets would miss their last  5 shots of the quarter but maintain their 6 point lead going into the half, 57-51.

Deron Williams opened up the 3rd quarter with a jumper followed up by a Joe Johnson jumper. Kay Thompson hit a lay up and a quick 3 to cut the Nets lead to 3, 61-58. Steph Curry was taken out of the game with only 3 points and 4 fouls in the 3rd quarter. Andrew Bogut would also pick up his 4th foul and he too would sit on the bench. Nets would take a 9 point lead 67-58. Warriors managed to cut the lead to 4 to cause a Nets timeout. Nets would comeback with a 9 point advantage  84-75 when Deron Williams hit another 3 pointer. Curry would hit a quick 3 pointer to cut the lead to 6 at the half, 86-80 Nets.

Warriors would bust open the 4th with a 3 pointer out of the corner to cut the lead to 3. Lopez had a frustration dunk and an free throw to get 26 points in 22 minutes. Curry would hit a 3-pointer again to cut the Net lead to 1, 91-90. Thaddeus Young would hit a 3 at the buzzer to cancel Curry’s 3 and hit another 3 for 6 quick points. Nets would go on a 6-0 run causing a Warrior time out. Curry and Thompson were throwing up 3’s but nothing was going down. Head Coach Lionel Hollins wanted a time out to try to cool down a red hot Barclays Center. Plumlee would hit a fast break dunk getting the Brooklyn crowd off their feet. Again, Curry missed a 3-pointer, ball bounces to Thompson and missed another 3 point shot. Nothing from deep was going down for the 3-point champion and the runner up.

Nets would go up by 10 but Curry would hit 3-3pointers in a row to cut the Nets lead to 3, 108-105. Game tied on a 12-2 run thanks to Curry jumper. The Warriors had a costly turnover with .20 seconds remaining to give the Nets a final possession to win the game. Jarrett Jack hit a big time jumper to put the Nets up by 2, 110-108 with 1.1 seconds left. Nets defense held up and denied the warriors a shot.
