You would think nothing could bother the ‘best basketball player’ in the NBA, Lebron James. But it looks like, 79-year-old Brooklyn Nets superfan, Mr. Whammy, doesn’t sit high on the players’ good list.

Bruce Reznick, AKA Mr. Whammy, has unofficially been part of the Brooklyn Nets team as a season ticket holder for 18 years. Reznick, a Canarsie based lawyer, is known as the Nets’ secret weapon at the free throw line. He’s famous at the teams’ basketball games for standing behind the basket as opposing teams shoot free throws and distracts players in an attempt to make them miss.
According to the Daily News, on March 27th, James of the Cleveland Cavilers asked officials to remove Reznick from behind the basket. “LeBron is a crybaby. I know it was him that asked the security to make me move,” Reznick told the paper. “He doesn’t like that I make him miss. He thinks he’s more powerful than anyone in the NBA.” It was later confirmed that an NBA official stated is was in-fact James who complained about the superfan.
Since that game, Reznick has been visibly absent from his normal post until Saturday’s first home playoff game for the Brooklyn Nets. It was his “first game where [he] had unlimited ability to get onto [his] mat,” Reznick told the Huffington Post. It could also be a huge reason why the Nets were able to beat the best team in the league, the Atlanta Hawks.
The Nets look to even out the series tonight as they are down 2-1. Mr. Whammy will be there “giving [them] ‘The Whammy’, most respectfully.”
