Kevin Garnett has accepted a trade that sends him back home the Minnesota Timberwolves and in return would send Thaddeus Young to the Nets. KG played 12 years for the Timberwolves and has an expiring $12 million contract. This was confirmed just before 3pm today by ESPN’s Chris Broussard.

Kevin Garnett Headed Back Home To Minnesota Timberwolves

So many trade rumors leading up to the 3pm trade deadline involving Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez and Kevin Garnett. Of those three only one proved to be true. Garnett had to wave his no trade clause in order to go back to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The trade does add youth to the roster and lower the cap space Brooklyn has been looking to shed. In this deal, Brooklyn gets a guy who is averaging 14.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 2.8 apg this season. It was once said that if KG agrees then this would be part of a 4-team deal with the Oklahoma Thunder, Washington Wizards, Minnesota Timberwolves and of course the Brooklyn Nets. This fell apart for one reason or another but Nets fans may be breathing a sigh of relief as Jarrett Jack would’ve been on his way to the Wizards if the deal went through. Billy King did draft Young earlier in his career and may be a reason to why Young was chosen for Garnett. Thaddeus Young does have a $10 million offer next year if he chooses to resign with the Nets.

For now this is the last and only Nets trade.  If there are more trades to talk about then we will bring you the latest.
