First year head coach, Jason Kidd, has been named Eastern Conference Coach Of The Month for the Brooklyn Nets performance in the month of January. In January, the Nets won huge games against great teams like  the Miami Heat who they beat in overtime, Oklahoma City Thunder , Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks. By the end of January, Brooklyn moved back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture with a 20-24 overall record.

Brooklyn started the season with a disappointing 10-21 record and injuries that sidelined Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Paul Pierce, Andrei Kirilenko and Jason Terry at different times. The first year coach was able to turn things around following a rocky start. Even his infamous drink spill has managed to pay off and turn into something completely great!

According to ESPN, Kidd stated about receiving Eastern Conference Coach of The Month,

“It’s a great honor for those guys in that locker room because they’re playing at a high level and it’s a very nice recognition. But it’s for those guys that are playing, and those guys are playing very well right now.”

Congrats Kidd!
