This one might come as a shocker to some, Kobe Bryant is not technically the highest paid NBA player.

In a report from Sports Illustrated which gives a thorough breakdown on the effect taxes, union dues, and agent fees have on player’s salaries in the league, displays a completely different view on how much exactly they’re taking home. The Los Angeles Lakers All-Star, Kobe Bryant, salary is currently $23.5M but the guard takes home only $12M. While that’s still a whole lot more than most of our salaries, there is a big difference.

According to the Sports Illustrated article, which was researched with the help of tax expert, Rober Riola, Nets’ star Joe Johnson who averages about 20 points per game, is taking home the most money in the NBA. Johnson, to date, net wage is $12.5M.

Nets stars Deron Williams and Brook Lopez are not to far behind the money making All-Star, taking home $10.2M and $8.4M consecutively.

Are NBA players worth all these millions? That’s completely up for debate. In any case, Uncle Sam seems to actually be the one raking in all the money.
