Geoffrey Owens joins Justin Bartha (The Hangover) as the newest cast members of Syfy’s new dark comedy pilot, (Future) Cult Classic.

Written by Shay Hatten (Ballerina), the Lorne Michaels-produced show follows a serial killer obsessed with 1990s slasher films, who then stalks a group of teens in a future world where violent crime is all but non-existent. Set 18 years into the future, it revolves around these teenagers who realize they’re being targeted and decide to track down the killer themselves, before it’s too late.

Owens will play Detective Moscowitz, an old-school cop completely out of his element in a tech-based society. Although he’s rusty, his instincts quickly return when a string of murders shocks his community.

The former The Cosby Show actor made headlines in 2017 after a photo of him working at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s was posted online. Since the viral post fellow actors and industry leaders rallied to help support Owens. He has since landed a recurring role on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots  and booked guest roles on NCIS: New Orleans and Billions.
