Frida Owl Turns Brooklyn-Based Engineer Into A Full-Time Artist

Ukrainian-born Eve Devore, studied electrical engineering and modeled through college. However, it wasn’t until she fully immersed herself in her “owl art” while in Brooklyn, the last two and a half years, that she found her true happiness.

“I was always painting as long as I can remember. I would usually paint when I was sad. When I saw many paintings I would sit and cry but my mom told me: you need to learn how to paint happiness. You want people to see the beauty in the cuts with blood. Then I found myself at my first job at a restaurant in NYC saying: “Where do I start?” Lay-offs at the restaurant proved to be the opportunity Devore needed to find her new career.

Devore’s first owl was the Frida owl as Frida is her favorite artist. She also did my personal second favorite, Einstein. Now she sells a bunch of prints on her site for $30 and does commissions for around $600.
