Let no one tell you otherwise, Fashion Week Brooklyn is important to the borough culture and this year the bi-annual event will be celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The fashion event that features a variety of emerging fashion designers, will kick off displays of their curated Fall/Winter collection on Sunday, May 1st through Sunday May 8th, 2016. Since its debut, FWBK has made Brooklyn the place for international and local designers within the community to showcase their collections.

FWBK all started with a conversation in a Bed-stuy Brownstone apartment, when fashion industry veteran and founder Rick Davy who had a vison of what Brooklyn was vast becoming decided that the borough needed its own fashion show. Rick, then shared his idea with insiders within the fashion industry who told him that no fashion editor especially Vogue, Elle, or even the NY Times would ever come to Brooklyn to cover a fashion show, particularly one that is void of major designers, sponsors, and front rows filled with celebrities like Anna Wintour.

This can cause the individual to walk with short strides generico levitra on line news and with the knees slightly bent.
Despite the odds and the challenge, the first FWBK fashion show debuted on May 6th, 2006 in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn. Not only did editors come to Brooklyn, but FWB was the first of its kind to receive a full page story in The New York Times. Since its launch, Fashion Week Brooklyn has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, WWD, Esquire, GQ and Vogue. Now 10 years later we have designers like Christian Dior, Moncler and Alexander Wang showing their collections to editors at Duggal’s Greenhouse in Brooklyn Navy Yard. In addition, Amazon’s New York Headquarters in Williamsburg Brooklyn was the key sponsor of the New York Fashion Week Menswear Show.

“Unlike New York Fashion Week which focuses on major designers, Fashion Week Brooklyn is based on the essence of the Borough, which is community,” – says Founder, Rick Davy.

Fashion Week Brooklyn was recently name #5 of the Top 10 independent fashion weeks from around the world by PR Couture.
