Sometimes you just don’t want Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Brooklyn has some of the best mom and pop coffee shops. I want to give you some alternatives to just your regular “Run on Dunkin!” Ha! From the places you should go to have a small meeting over coffee and muffins, to the places you should stop in for a quick bagel and Iced Chai before you head to work. 1. Lula’s Bagel – 816 Nostrand Ave (between Lincoln Pl & Eastern Pkwy)
Not much room to sit. More of a run in and grab a cup and leave. Quick service and a bomb Iced Chai! Oh their bagels are great too!
2. Nimba – 619 St. Johns Pl (at Franklin Ave)
From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall, then you step inside and you’re welcomed by the feeling of home. From the comfortable lounge chairs to the amazing coffee and wifi!!! This is the place to relax, unwind and catch up on schoolwork!
3. Blue Bottle Coffee – 160 Berry St (between 6th St & 5th St)
This coffee shop is just so beautiful! You will most definielty be taking out your smartphones for a quick selfie while you sip your coffee. No place to sit, but it’s cool when their dripped coffee is made to perfection. Oh, the foam art and smore’s!!!!!
4. Postmark Cafe – 326 6th St(between 5th Ave & 4th St)

Don’t just need coffee, need to get work done with no distractions? This is your spot! Free Wifi! This cafe is CASH ONLY, but the coffee is so cheap and they have great snacks and they for sure don’t mind if you sit lounge there for hours!
5. Bedford Hill Coffee Bar – 343 Franklin Ave (between Greene Ave & Lexington Ave)
Who doesn’t want a coffee shop where you can get beer and wine too. I mean really! Too amazing! The coffee is substantial and the food is good. Cute lounging area, where you can sit and be comfortable and sip your beer, I mean coffee!
6. Urban Vintage – 294 Grand Ave (between Greene Ave & Clifton Pl)
One of the most coziest coffee shops ever! Beautiful furniture, pleasant owners and amazing cheesecake! When you walk in here, you do not get the feeling of a coffee shop at all. Warm and super relaxing with a beautiful ambiance. The coffee is great but the treats are even better!
