In what might be the most bizarre news of the week, a 12-year-old boy and his younger 8-year-old sister created an elaborate story about a stalker following them to their home in Crown Heights.

The children who had been staying with their babysitter, while their parents were on vacation, told police that there was a man who had followed the young girl as she walked with her friend from her home on St. Johns Avenue to the school bus pickup spot near Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue on Friday morning. She said the man could be seen hiding between cars, watching her.

The pranksters then reported that later that day, the man tried to flag down the brother’s school bus near the home, but then ran off when the matron on board threatened to call police.

The girl said she saw the same man taking a picture of their home and added that he asked her where she sleeps in the house and who lives with her.

The kids even penned a fake note and left it in their mailbox reading, “Watch out. I am watching you!! Your daughter is cute.”

After surveillance footage showing the man standing outside their home went viral Monday morning, the gentleman turned himself into the police where he was questioned. According to reports, the man claimed he once lived at the address and just wanted to drive by and observe his old home.

As the story began to fall apart, the children eventually admitted making up the entire story and writing the letter themselves before placing it in their mailbox.

The man was released yesterday and no charges have been filed.
