Watch Out Marvel, Brooklyn Gets Their Own Superheroes

Move over Marvel, Brooklyn Superheros are coming to save the day!
Emmy award winner Dean Haspiel describes his creation of a comic book about Brooklyn superheros as his love letter to the borough, states the NY Daily News. Hapiel, along with several other artists, have found a better way to fight crime in the borough, artistically in the comic series called “New Brooklyn.”
“The idea was what if we incorporated Brooklyn as a character. Not only a character because it is a city, but it actually has a beating heart. And what if Brooklyn’s heart got broken and decides to secede the boroughs,” Haspiel tells the publication. “Brooklyn and it’s residents as a result of this become self-sustaining. It returns back to a barter system, growing it’s own food and also giving rise to its own heroes.”

Heroes “Redhook”, “The Brooklynite” and “The Purple Heart” each represent a very special part of Brooklyn and aid in making Brooklyn what it is. We are excited to see the finished product. Wonder if they’ll have a superhero to save us from the gentrification taking place?
The comic book series will be featured on Line Webtoons in March 2016.
