Well who knew there was a day that celebrates your favorite superheroes and people’s amazing and selfless acts of kindness. Many businesses gave back in different ways to show that superheroes are not always dressed in a cape. Companies like FOX 8 News celebrated by collaborating with Superfly Kids, a company that makes personalized superhero capes. For every $50 spent on the site a cape was donated to a sick child. Also many Krispy Kreme doughnut locations gave away a dozen doughnuts for each dozen that was purchased. Sweet!
One amazingly courageous and selfless woman was honored in Brooklyn today for her random act of kindness. Sheila Nelson, who currently works for the U.S. Postal Service was honored by her company for what she did last year. Sheila reached out to help a stranger, Corinthia Waller, at the Cadman Plaza Post Office after her autistic son had fallen to the ground. Corinthia said she couldn’t get him to calm down or stand up again, until Sheila to time out to offer her assistance. After the incident, Corinthia wrote a letter to the postmaster general in Washington, D.C. commending Sheila on her amazing act of heroism.
Small acts of generosity and kindness never go unnoticed.
