According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), they are hoping this will set a precedence for future projects acknowledging the fact, building developer Avalon Bay funded the expansive 10-foot-wide staircase and elevator.  The MTA also expressed that developers should be forced into funding station upgrades since these new entrances require expensive necessities such as elevators.

Luckily for residents of the “tallest Brooklyn building,” they would have the convenience of not having to go downstairs to gain access to the Jay Street-Metro Tech station. However of course with every perk there’s a catch; they’ll have to share the entrance with the 41,000 daily riders who ride the A, C, F, and R trains from the Metro Tech station.

The grand opening of the renovated subway is still unknown, however an Ava Dobro employee assured it will be soon. In the meantime, residents of the apartment building expressed their excitement for the brand new entrance to be added to the apartment’s list of amenities. The 57 story, 575-foot-tall building first opened in September of 2015 and holds studio apartments that start at $2,400 a month to three bedrooms at $5,000 a month. The building also has its own coffee shop that also serves wine and craft beer, a pet spa, as well as a heated dog run.
