Celebrate summer with readings by Alexander Chee and Darnell Moore. Chee’s essay collection, How to Write an Autobiographical Novel, offers intimate lessons from his work as a queer activist, writing teacher, and fiction writer. Moore’s memoir, No Ashes in the Fire: Coming of Age Black and Free in America, recounts a journey from bullied teenager to activist. After sharing selections from their books, the authors are joined by poet and Buzzfeed journalist Saeed Jones to talk about how their work explores the intersection of race and sexuality, and how they navigate truth and fiction in their own lives.
