The battle for Brooklyn’s best rapper continues. Shamele Mackie, better know as Papoose has now claimed he is the “King Of New York.” Papoose who was born in Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy area even took a shot at Jay Z, stating “Nobody is better than me.” Sigh! The rapper who is currently married to Remy Ma, a female rapper now serving time in jail for a 2007 incident, has previously taken shots at Drake, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar.

“None are more lyrically inclined than me. None of them. I’m definitely the king of New York. I am the greatest out of New York. When I look in the mirror, I don’t see Jay Z — I see Papoose. More power to him, but he’s not better than me.”

It takes true guts to say that. What can you say, Papoose has heart!

Papoose who was really made public in 2005 still struggles for success in the mainstream area of Hip-Hop. “The Nacirema Dream,”  his debut album, was released last March has sold 17,000 copies independently.
