On Friday, April 11th I was blessed to be part of the White House Press Pool to cover President Obama’s trip to Manhattan to speak at Rev. Al Sharpton’s annual NAN (National Action Network) Convention. Many celebrities like gospel singer Donnie McClurkin and Enetertainment Tonight corespondent AJ, press and a few lucky ticket holders gathered at the Sheraton Hotel in Times Square in anticipation for the President of the United States. Around 4pm, with a quick and to the point introductory from Rev Al Sharpton calling President Obama “an action President”, President Obama took the podium to  warn on the erosion of the Voting Rights Act. With a little quirkiness and humor, President Barack Obama delivered an inspiring speech (as he normally does) that made everyone in that room leave with the belief of voting to be one of the most important things to do as an American citizen.
