I would like to thank God, my mother and the man who sold me the Emmy. That can be your acceptance speech! A Brooklyn construction worker, Ismail Cekic, found a genuine golden Emmy award statuette in the trash last fall. He put on a massive search for the rightful owner of the forgotten award, but nothing. Cekic has now  given up his search for the rightful owner and decided to put it up for auction.

According to the New York Daily News

The 40-year-old Cekic, who also records music under his nickname “Smiley,” had dreamed of returning the trophy to a Brooklyn star like actor Scott Baio or singer Barbra Streisand, but the mystery winner never came forward.

“I was kind of disappointed not meeting that person,” Cekic said. “But in the end, I want to do something positive.”

Maybe he was trying to find the owner for all the wrong reasons. He should be trying to find the owner just to get it back to them, not to make himself famous. Any who! What will he do with the money he receives? He want to invest and give it back to support his friend’s independent movie. Someone called and offered him $10,000 dollars for it already. Interesting.
Well, he is giving it to the highest bidder. As if $10,000 dollars for something that isn’t even yours wasn’t enough. Sigh!
