Two Brooklyn start-up companies, Box My Dorm and Setton Brothers made this year’s Entrepreneur’s top 360 small businesses in America.The list was compiled of companies mastering impact, innovation, growth and leadership.
Box My Dorm, coming in at No. 294, is a student storage and shipment company founded by two students, Joseph Leary and Peter Handy. The University of Pennsylvania students established the idea in August of 2005 after renting a U-Haul truck to help friends move their belongings onto campus. Now, they have created a service that goes from door to door, picking up and delivering college student’s belongings to their dorm site. The company has become so established within the past 11 years that worldwide shipping has recently become available.
“Our mission is to make shipping and storage simple for students. We do this by listening to what you have to say, investing in the latest technology, and relying on the best-in-class Made Travelers Network to fulfill service,” reads the company’s website.
Setton Brothers, coming in at No. 322, is a unique company that targets the traveling young professional. The creators, Yoel and Mendy Setton have been in the entrepreneurial business for quite some time but since the 1990s have found a huge need for quality laptop and briefcases.
“You make an impression before you make a presentation,” Yoel Setton states on the company’s website.
