Did the NY Times get the memo late that Brooklyn has changed, already? In their defense the media portrayed Brooklyn as the forgotten borough of New York and only now has started to see that Brooklyn is on the rise and way more expensive. It just took some high-end fashion designers to bring their runway show here and a visit from the President.

Last week it was Crown-Heights now the NY Times focuses on Bedford-Stuyvesent. The Times goes on to say,

“You’ve got the most unexpected, diverse people moving into the neighborhood now,” Mr. Munsey said. “I’m getting a lot of Europeans, and actually lots of Germans.”

Ahh, this report is a little late. Let me sum it up for those who haven’t gotten it yet. BROOKLYN HAS CHANGED! It’s growing and new people are moving in, prices of house are ridiculous and the people who were able to live here years ago, can’t afford it anymore. Bedford-Stuyvesent was one of the first neighborhoods to go through this change. I’ve even heard the neighborhood being called, “Stuyvesant Heights” to pacify new residents to not be associated with what was a crime driven space.

The Times did mention that the started in the mid 90’s, based on information from residents. Wondering why it took the journalist this long to write the article.

On a good note, they did inform us that there is a brownstone going for 1.9 Million right in the neighborhood. Does anyone remember when you could purchase a brownstone in Brooklyn with your large savings account? Now you need that and then some.
