Downtown Brooklyn’s Atlantic Center Mall was one of Santa’s pit-stops to surprise 65 lucky kids withe special gifts during a special Season of Giving event. Of course Santa needed some helpers, so he brought along the entire Brooklyn Nets team.
The 65 children, ages 4-10, from Northside Children Center and Church of the Open Door received the opportunity to take a photo with Santa, the Nets players, and their new gifts. Some kids were a little cautious to get to Santa while the majority were more than excited to receive a gift before Christmas.
In addition, MJHS, a not-for-profit health system, and the Nets provided two children with the opportunity to participate in the event as part of the MJHS Build a Memory program, which offers pediatric hospice and palliative care patients amazing experiences, while creating enduring memories for their families.
After all the pictures were taken and all the gifts were handed out, a group photo was taken with Santa, the Brooklyn Nets and all of the 65 kids.

OurBKSocial got a chance to talk with some of the Nets players and kids at the end of the event. Jarrett Jack stated that the event “meant a lot to give back to the kids during this special time of year.” Mason Plumlee was quoted saying that it “just felt good to come out and do the right things for the kids.” When the kids were asked about the event, they became very animated. One special little girl told OurBKSocial that she didn’t know what the gifts were but was going to rip it open as soon as she got in the car. Other kids around her smiled and nodded with her in agreement.
As to what the kids actually got? Only Santa and the Brooklyn Nets know.
