Construction that began this morning at the Rockaway Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue stations are part of an $88 million project that will renovate seven stations along the 3 line and bring them in good standing. Renovations of the stations that opened in the early 1900s include enhanced safety features, better lighting, improved platforms, new guardrails and improvement to the sewer lines and concrete. New artwork is also said to be installed on the platforms.

The MTA has put in place free shuttle busses at the Saratoga and Pennsylvania Avenue stations for commuters affected by the planned renovations.
